Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what data TyreSwitch processes when you use the website at tyreswitch.app, why, and what rights you have. We designed TyreSwitch to work without an account and to keep as little data as possible.

Who is responsible

The controller responsible for this website is TyreSwitch. You can contact us about any privacy matter at contact@tyreswitch.app.

Your driving profile stays in your browser

The answers you give about your location, driving times, experience, roads, frequency and tyre type are stored only in your browser’s localStorage. They are not sent to an account and are not stored on our servers. You can delete them at any time by using the reset option in the app or by clearing your browser’s site data for tyreswitch.app.

Location lookups and weather forecasts

When you search for a place, your search text is sent to our own API, which forwards it to Nominatim, the geocoding service of OpenStreetMap. When we fetch a forecast, the coordinates of your chosen location are sent through our API to MET Norway. Using our API as an intermediary means these services see our server, not your IP address. Our API does not store your queries beyond short-lived caching needed to keep the service fast and to respect the providers’ usage policies. If you allow your browser to share your location, your browser handles that permission; we only use the coordinates to fetch your recommendation.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are used. It does not use cookies, does not use localStorage for tracking and does not create profiles of individual visitors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Advertising

TyreSwitch is free because it shows advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure their performance and, with your consent, personalise them.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we use a consent management platform certified by Google that supports the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) v2.3. You can choose which purposes and vendors you consent to, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the privacy settings link on the site. The legal basis for personalised advertising and related cookies is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Without consent, Google may show non-personalised or limited ads, which may still use cookies for purposes such as frequency capping and fraud prevention, as permitted by the framework.

Server logs and hosting

Like any website, our hosting and API infrastructure may process technical data such as IP addresses and request times briefly to deliver pages and protect against abuse. These data are not used to identify you or build profiles.

International transfers

Some providers, such as Google and Cloudflare, may process data outside the EEA. Where this happens, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live. Because we do not keep accounts or store your profile on our servers, in most cases we hold no personal data that could be linked to you.
