Cookie policy
This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies are used on tyreswitch.app, what they are for and how you can control them. It complements our privacy policy.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include localStorage, which lets a website save data in your browser without sending it to a server with every request. Some are strictly necessary for a site to work; others are used for analytics or advertising and require your consent in many countries.
Storage used by TyreSwitch itself
Your driving profile (localStorage)
TyreSwitch stores your driving profile, such as your chosen location, driving times, experience, roads, frequency and tyre type, in your browser’s localStorage. This lets the app show your recommendation when you return, without an account. The data stays on your device and is not sent to us. It is kept until you reset the profile in the app or clear your browser’s site data. Because this storage only serves a function you have asked for, it is considered strictly necessary.
Consent choices
Your choices in the consent tool are saved in your browser, typically in a cookie and/or localStorage, so that we do not ask you again on every visit. This is also strictly necessary.
Analytics without cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It works without cookies and without storing identifiers in your browser, and it does not track you across websites.
Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
TyreSwitch is funded by ads delivered by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may set and read cookies or use similar identifiers to:
- show ads and limit how often you see the same ad,
- measure ad performance and detect fraud,
- with your consent, personalise ads based on your interests.
The exact cookies, their names and their lifetimes are determined by Google and its partners and may change. You can find details in the vendor list shown in our consent tool and in Google’s own policies on advertising cookies.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform appears before any non-essential advertising cookies are used. The tool follows the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) v2.3. You can accept all, reject all, or choose individual purposes and vendors.
How to change or withdraw consent
You can reopen the consent tool at any time using the privacy settings link on the site and change your choices. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data. Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites work. Clearing site data for tyreswitch.app will also delete your saved driving profile and your consent choices. You can also opt out of personalised advertising from Google in your Google account’s ad settings.
Changes and contact
We update this policy when the technologies we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you have any questions about cookies on TyreSwitch, contact TyreSwitch at contact@tyreswitch.app. You can learn more about the project on our about page.
